Wow! Where do I start? OK, let me gather my thoughts.
This past Thursday was amazing! As an event producer/curator we don’t get to sit back and enjoy the events. We normally are behind-the-scenes making sure everything goes according to plan. But this day we had a huge team come together to pull it off. We were able to enjoy ourselves in pockets where we could sit down, relax and experience excellence in real time.
Attendees were greeted with complimentary hors d’oeuvres, and love. An amazing non-alcoholic bar was featured from Morelife Liquid. Celebrities MyGuyMars and Slink Johnson were in the building lending their talents to make the event a memorable one.
Our BLKNGLD partners Monzelle Dozier and Roman Perkins got to debut their album set to release later this month. The album is very motivational and really set the tone for the evening and days to come. Check back to visit Monelle's Even.biz profile to download the album and to support.
This album is a great example of sticking to your word. Monzelle Mr. DOZ was recently diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer, and a few months following his diagnosis, his family home burned to the ground. Even though he has faced all of this adversity, you can still catch him cracking a smile or a joke and just spreading love. He didn't even think of giving up on his album, which was already in the works. With support from his lovely wife and friends, as well as the strength within himself, our brother was able to plan and execute this event, send out performance schedules to all parties involved, and much more.

As the day turned into night, a falling comet streaked across the sky, and we all watched from the rooftop. The sky resembled our movie screen, and we were all gathered to watch it, unsuspecting of its arrival. It was definitely confirmation that we were part of something magical.
Event attendees embraced the theme, wearing BLKNGLD, or their real-life superhero persona. Fictional heroes such as Chocolate Locs, the DreadLock hero, Honey Potter, Shero, and BlaqMagic the Goddess, among others, arrived in their fashionable attire. Other guests adorned beautiful outfits in black with gold accessories, just gold, or just black. It was truly an "Emmy" type event right in the heart of the AV. Creative expression with a touch of Afro-futurism was what we had hoped for, and everyone certainly did not disappoint. You can check out some of the pictures below and visit our social media sites to see more footage of the event .
Five non-profits were honored, and they spoke about the work they have done and will continue to do in the community, emphasizing the importance of being part of something good. Videos from the event are coming soon. The event felt like a family reunion of sorts, with the night ending in us singing karaoke-style to well-known hits and doing the electric slide in Family Reunion fashion.
HERE ARE THE AWARDS THAT WERE GIVEN OUT
Thanks to all that came out, it was truly such an inspirational night and we learned so much.
